In July of 1962, a small group of artists lead by Orlando Suarez, a muralist whose initiative also helped found the Superior Art Institute, created the Taller Experimental de Grafica (Experimental Graphics Studio) in the old Marques de Arco Palace in Havana. The intention was to revive the rich tradition of print making and at the same time, engage the new revolutionary art movement by using mastered graphic skills (and scare resources) while leaving a mark on the history of graphic art for new generations of artists.
